Is this guy not good enough to be a backup? I know at one point in high school Lane recruited him at Ole Miss, but then they cooled on him. He also had some other decent offers (UK, Houston, Boston College, Oklahoma State, plus a few others). Obviously, he isn’t a starter, but is he good enough to potentially be a backup to whoever we sign?

He will take snaps at qb at some point next year unless multiple QBs jump in late.

Edited, don’t mean starter. I do think if LSU doesn’t get two QBs in the next week, he has to play in some form even in mop up duty. Even with three QBs, he still is right there in the chart.

Don’t have to get them in the next week. Portal then closes, but can sign anybody out of the portal at any time. In addition, teams ending their playoff runs have additional time to enter the portal.
