Yard/Grass help-burr weeds are out of control

I moved into a new house a year ago, and the lawn is completely overrun with burr weeds. They are everywhere. In the spring, it’s impossible for my kid to play in the grass. What can I buy to treat that with and when is the right time to start? Any help would be appreciated.

Specifics in the link. In summary, kill them now but apply a preemergent in October.

Now is the time to control before they mature and form the seed (sticker) pods. Choose a reasonably warm day to spray (60-70s F).
Fertilome Weed Free Zone (1 fld oz) + Atrazine (8.6 fld oz) + 2 teaspoon of surfactant (spreader sticker) mixed in 1 or 2 gallons of water, sprayed over 1000 square feet would be good choice, and probably what I would choose.
But there are other options - Trimec, MSM Turf, Celsius, …..
