Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman has found himself at the center of a police investigation after being accused of battery at a high school wrestling event.
Freeman attended his son's competition at Mishawaka High School on January 3.
While there, he allegedly became involved in an altercation with New Prairie High School wrestling assistant coach Chris Fleeger, who has since filed a police report accusing Freeman of battery.
In a furious statement released to the South Bend Tribune on Sunday, Notre Dame Athletics is denying that any physical contact occurred and claims there is video evidence to support that.
'Vinny Freeman, head coach Marcus Freeman's son, was verbally accosted during and after his wrestling match by a local wrestling coach,' the statement read.
'Marcus and Joanna Freeman intervened and removed Vinny from the situation. At no point did Coach Freeman physically engage with anyone. We believe that the police report, which includes video evidence, fully exonerates Coach Freeman and makes clear these accusations are unfounded.'

Did he have his own entrance music?

I thought this dude was too soft, usually cowers away from anything too challenging

Seriously? Hard to imagine he would do something like this.

TMZ should have us some cell phone video footage soon.
I'm not surprised by the allegations after the character he showed by opting out of the Bowl Game because his team started the season 0-2.

The assistant coach is a Purdue alum. I'd be shocked if Freeman "assaulted" him in any way. This Chris Fleeger character will come off looking like a dbag, if not already.

Sounds like the assistant coach is looking for a payday.

Opting out the bowl game makes sense unless you’re Toledo or someone like that. Bowls are largely a waste of time in this day and age. Extra bowl practices matter little, and even less now that half your team opts out or is in the portal.

Well this can be easily solved with some video. Hopefully it’s no big deal but if not then he’s screwed. I will say. Millennial high intense parents can be extremely difficult and aggressive with sports.

I doubt it. There's apparently video that contradicts the accuser.
From the story, it seems that he just broke up a fight or argument involving his son.

But he converted to Catholicism!!!

I can’t stand Notre Dame but Fleeger sounds like a real piece of shite and I hope this gets dismissed with prejudice

Freeman walked past him in the tunnel to the locker room, or something along those lines. The assistant coach was exchanging words with the son or the son & teammates. Gonna go with Marcus Freeman ain't going to shove someone in front of cameras and people at his son's hs wrestling match. Might've told the guy to stfu, though, which is good on him.

Based on nothing but the OP and my opinion:
1) douche bag wrestling coach knew he was Freeman’s son and was fricking with him verbally.
2) Freeman thought it was too much, went to get his son, and gave the coach some shite (deservedly) for messing with his son. He MAY have even brushed against the coach in the process.
3) douche bag coach smells a possible payday and files charges.
