I think something similar happened recently but in NY, this happened:

Yes, he came here on a tourist visa and is now an employee of the city of new york... cannot make this up.
cleared a background check....didnt that also happen somewhere else in a democrat city... sheesh..

If accurate, case closed. Got to go. And should be barred from reentry for overstaying so long.
There is a grace period to reapply, it’s not 8.5 years.
