Best app to pair with Garmin tracking collar

I have the Garmin alpha and explore apps. Both good and a little different. They are paired to my alpha 300 and the collar.

My husband has his collars paired with his Garmin watch. That's about all I know, lol...

That I don’t know. I pair my handheld to my phone. Would’ve saved me $1000 to skip the handheld so I doubt it.

You can pair your Garmin through the explore app. Your collar or collars will appear on the app but it has to go through the handheld.

Explore won’t show waypoint names. At least I can’t get it to. The alpha app won’t go into landscape mode. I’m trying to avoid buying the drive track or the new big screen and want to pair it to an iPad potentially.
