Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s sophomore directorial effort, which reimagines “The Bride of Frankenstein” with a punk rock twist and an A-list cast that includes Jessie Buckley as the eponymous Bride and Christian Bale as Frankenstein’s monster, was always destined to be one of the most anticipated films of the year. Then factor in an ensemble including Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz, and the fact that Warner Bros. seems to be on an unstoppable winning streak, and suddenly you have a can’t-miss movie event on your hands.

Maybe it's just me but frankenstein story line just doesn't have much appeal as it used to IMO

in a world full of remakes and big budget bonanza comicbooks on rotation, I'm down for something outside the box. Maybe this will be bad, but I give props to trying something different. This is the type of movie that was being made in the late 90s early 00s, which is the second greatest era of film behind the 40's-50's imo.

All i know is that ive never been let down by a Bale performance so I imagine that alone is worth the ticket.

This reminds you of Green Book? The King's Speech? A Beautiful Mind?

If more people had this attitude we would get better movies. But no, people would rather cram the theaters for Grown Ups 2 instead of Pacific Rim.
