This team will never compete or win with this starting lineup. While our lineup is talented, we are much too small.

Center... Queen 6'9
PF... Zion 6'6
SF... Bey 6'7
SG... Murphy 6'8
PG... Fears 6'2

WE are getting killed on the boards. Opposing teams are getting 2 or 3 shots per possession; this is killing us, plus we have no outside shooters besides Murphy. Herb's light frame is keeping him injured while trying to defend bigger players; the same can be said about Jose.
This is a mess; they have become unwatchable, and I love the Pels, but
It's time to blow it up and acquire as many assets as you can for everybody except the following players.
Fears
Queen
Messi
Bey
Trey
I will build around these five players, and everybody else I would try to move.

Height has absolutely nothing to do with why this lineup doesn't work.

DQ - not a 3 point shooter, but i do think he should spot up more just above the FT line and knock down that open David West shot.
Zion - only attempts left handed layups, has zero gravity off the ball.
Bey - not a 3 point threat at all
Trey - elite 3 point floor spacer
Fears - not a 3 point threat, yet.

You cannot win in the nba when you only have 1 three point threat on the floor

Easily the worst defensive starting lineup in the league.

If Fears and Queen are going to be so terrible, it’s not even fun to consider lineups. Based simply on our current roster, we would be best with:

Murray
Herb
Murphy
Zion
Missi

But Murray never wants to play here again, Herb has been hurt for a year and a half, and I guess we have to play Queen and Zion even when they don’t seem to want to play for certain games.

Too small and no shooting or defense. Worse lineup in the league. Dumars thought we were a project PF away from competiting. fricking dumb arse.

Murray at PG helps a lot.

Better defender than Fears and legit 6'4".

Zion, Bey, and Murphy should be at the 3.

Queen could be a good PF if you had a stretch 5 like a young Miles Turner or healthy Porzingis.

The dumbass Dumars trades are killer. Poole was just a stupid pickup.

Teddy, anytime you are playing basketball at any level, height always matters and makes a different, if you read my post I basically stated everything that you said , except height makes a difference. Again we are getting killed on the boards, teams are getting twice as many shots than the Pels, plus no outside shooting

With all due respect, before we figure out the three-point problem, we better address the defensive issues. The biggest problem with this line up is that there is ABSOLUTELY NO DEFENSE...NONE...ZILCH...NADA...NYET.

Defense requires two things: Athleticism and 'want-to'.

Offense is skill-driven and there will be good nights and bad nights, but defense has to be a non-negotiable every night out.

Take # 1 for example; he possesses no 'want-to' (and never has). Here is a scouting report on Zion Williamson's weaknesses coming into the league in 2019 (nbadraft.net):

WEAKNESSES

Playing style and weight puts a lot of pressure on his legs and feet. The question begs to be asked whether he can stay on the floor for a lengthy NBA career … He will likely need to drop another 15-20 lbs in order to sustain his playing style … 250-260 lbs would be ideal. But may not be possible … Shot is somewhat flat with awkward release position, from the side of his head … Is developing into a capable shooter but still needs refinement … Plays with a great deal of emotion, but at times that emotion can get the best of him as he struggles to contain it … Will need to work on not getting too emotional as the 82 game NBA season is a long one and can burn out players that put too much into each and every game … Can get a little out of control at times, needs perimeter game to develop to be less predictable … A good portion of his points come through overpowering less physically developed players, which will not work as well at the next level … Jumper is flat, needs more arch … Struggles to shoot from the perimeter in rhythm … Is much more adept at spotting up when defenders sag off of him than creating shots with defenders on him … Needs to work on polishing a pull up jumper … Poor effort defensively at times and does not always get in a low stance, even though he can sometimes make up for it with his unique athleticism … Loses focus defensively at times, gambles for blocks and steals … Not always in great position, at times late on rotations … Back to the basket game could use some work …

Respectfully, seven years in, has anything changed?

Sidenote: Three of the five fouls Matkovic committed last night was due to him trying to cover up for teammates being out of position or unengaged defensively. Point being, everyone needs to do their job 100% of the time on the defensive end wurh no exceptions

This is the entire issue with this team. JB’s screen heavy offense cannot work if you don’t have guys that cannot hit outside shots, defenders will just camp inside the 3 point line and dare you to drive.

And guess who’s the hot name in the rumor mill for trade? Another guy that doesn’t set the world on fire from 3 in Mathurin

It's not so much that he's a 6'9'' starting center in the NBA; it's more that he's a 6'9'' UNATHLETIC starting center in the NBA.

By the way: I wonder if this team would have been worse than what we have today:

Dyson Daniels; Jose Alvarado
Herb Jones; CJ McCollum; Antonio Reeves
Brandon Ingram; Naji Marshall; Jordan Hawkins
Trey Murphy; Karlo Matkovic; Jeremiah Robinson-Earl
Jonas Valanciunas; Yves Missi, Larry Nance Jr

....and whatever draft picks we could have gotten this year plus the draft capital (and cap relief) we could have turned Zion into.

I DON'T THINK SO!!!
