Since athletes receive money, they are considered professionals….correct?
If so, what would stop a professional say in the nfl after a short career, and left college early, could come back and finish his time at college? Sounds like a stretch but what is the difference anymore?

5 year eligibility rule starts the moment he sets foot on campus. The better question is what if a baseball player went the minor league route and never went to college.

This is already being done in basketball. I think it's been 2 or 3 basketball players that have come back this season after being drafted by the NBA and playing professionally.

Josh Booty did it way back. He played for the Marlins, then came back and played QB for LSU.
