Another former Dem buddy and I were discussing this earlier today.

We've always called Republicans racist because that deflected from the history of the Democrat party. Projection is always a tool of the left.

But "Nazi" takes it up to a whole new level, and also seems to be the one that really gets the insane members of the base to resort to violence.

I remember when the Tea Party first started after Obama was elected. That was the first time I remember calling the right "Nazis". If memory serves, it was Nancy Pelosi who went in front of the media, was shown a video of a bunch of members of the greatest generation at a TEA Party rally, and she used the term Nazi. I remember this being one of the first "below the belt" moments because several members in the video she commented on were WW2 Vets. My grandfather was a WW2 vet in Europe who voted for McCain in 2008. This was one of the first items that had me start to turn away from the left.

Surely Pelosi wasn't the pioneer of this movement.

Of course the whole "White Nationalist" narrative is over 11 years old now. According to the left we would have bodies of minorities stacked in the street now because White Supremacists are the country's biggest threat. Naturally Nazi was tied to this too.

When do you remember this first being thrown out?

My thinking is 2015 but I imagine it started before then with the toxicity and delusion of the news cycles. I think of the Obama years and the only term that I can think of then is "racist" everything.

Richard Nixon at the latest. The left called Reagan a Nazi and both Bushes Nazis. Heck, they called milquetoast Mitt Romney and John McCain nazis.

I don't believe the pejorative "Nazi" carries that much weight anymore. It's simply too way over used.

It started when a certain privileged "watchdog" group knew they could brainwash most liberals and leftists freely and liberally in media, colleges, and the interweb to smear Republicans, white Christian males, and conservatives. With complete impunity.

Trump could at least act more Christian. It wouldn’t hurt.

Or maybe it started when rightwing protestors carried Nazi flags

The right needs to self identify itself with the following characteristics:

Educated.
Fit and healthy.
Well groomed.
Psychologically stable.
Family oriented.
Christian.

If that is "Nazi", oh well.

It was prior to the tea party. They called GWB a nazi. They thought he stole the election from Algore. Strangely enough, today Bush seems like a leftist.

You're talking about a radical fringe group condemned by everyone and I know you know it doesn't mean all Republicans are Nazis you fricking loser.

I remember really first noting it in the contested 2000 election with W Bush, Algore and the “hanging chads”.

Of course that 2000 election was also really the first time I noticed the distinct presence of the wild-eyed, hyperventilating and dropping the f-bomb a minute Democratic voter.

W was called a Nazi and every GOP candidate since that time has been called a Nazi. Hell, even McCain and Romney of all people, the very epitomes of what we think as today’s “RINOS”…were called Nazis.

Now, Bush I, Reagan, Ford, Nixon, etc. may have been called Nazis as well but if it happened, it wasn’t yet so widespread and repetitive to be considered an official rally-cry of the Democratic Party like it is today.
