I attended Dale Brown basketball camps and have been following this program for over 50 years. PLEASE get a new coach!

I know verge likely wants to wait until the first round of the sec tourny but feels like if we sent MM home maybe we get a win or two

Last night should be it. Though I could see, if you have a handshake agreement in place with next year's coach, that coach preferring that LSU wait until March so he doesn't have to answer questions about it for as long as possible.

The timing and the dynamics for BB hirings are different than FB. It is much less likely anyone is going to make a mid-year splash hire in BB. For FB, if a program doesn't make a mid-year hire, they risk tanking the next year because of the timing of the portal and recruiting. Coaches know that, too, and it gives them less leverage.
I really can't see how a Kiffin-type situation would occur in college BB. Their targets will likely need to have completed their seasons (or very close to it) for us to get any traction in negotiation.
