Why do the basketball versions of College Gameday always seem “off” compared to football?

Watching it now before the LSU/USC game.

While it’s awesome to see how lit the PMAC is, the basketball version just comes off cheesy.

Is it because it’s indoors? Is it the difference between football and basketball fanbases? Is it the hosts?

Regardless, LSU wins tonight.

It’s because basketball doesn’t hold a candle to football. It’s really difficult to hype that.

because there just isn’t a thing like gameday Saturday mornings in college basketball

You get premier matchups on wednesdays as often as you do the weekend and there are way more games.

There are a lot of reasons but I agree with this. Basketball teams play way more games and top matchups can occur any day of the week. College football has a dedicated time slot when most people are off, and heightened importance of any given regular season matchup
