NASA takes itself AND Boeing to the Woodshed

9m video, "NASA administrator Jared Issacman talks about the investigation of the Boeing Starliner Crew Flight Test-1 flight that left NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams stuck on the International Space Station for an extended mission."
Absolutely BLASTS the whole shenanigan... very refreshing. Hits Boeing, but hits NASA harder- discusses the disagreements, pushback, etc within the NASA camp for saving face and whatnot. He is, in his own words, "correcting the report".

I’ve spoken with @NASAAdmin Jared Isaacman regarding the investigation of NASA’s Boeing Starliner. I appreciate his efforts to handle the situation transparently and to prioritize the safety of NASA’s astronauts, but I am concerned by NASA’s failure to acknowledge the severity of these problems at the time they occurred.
The operational and technical issues detailed in this report must be immediately resolved to ensure we maintain redundant, safe U.S. crew transportation options to the International Space Station from our commercial partners. I appreciate Administrator Isaacman’s commitment to me that NASA will implement corrective actions and work closely with Boeing to make certain these failures are not repeated.

Man, that guys ears.
Yes they are a smidge, hmm, obvious.
Did you like what he had to say?
I'd love, love, love to see the same short, bold, transparency on other government shenanigans.

Yeah, he gives Ross Perot a run for his money in that regard.

Dammit, birdy... I was so excited that someone might actually wanna talk about the video/texts/letter...
... I don't know if I like shenanigans, but I definitely love saying shenanigans!

He’s a goofy looking dude but he seems competent as hell and has been to space more times than most of our actual astronauts.

Well so are you and you're still here.

Solid statement, and interesting timing considering Artemis II launch is right around the corner though. I like that he seems to want to put some energy back into NASA because I think they've been set on a slow, lackadaisical cruise control for a couple decades now.

Yes, I agree. He seems motivated and diligent, two very admirable traits.

Basically said DEI hires/promotions caused the problem if you read between the lines.

Perhaps.. I think I read it more that political/corporate expediency rated higher than stringency and safety.
Maybe that's DEI, maybe that's aversion to Musk, maybe it's a sunk cost fallacy.

NASA needs to go in one of two directions.
1) get a lot more involved with their contractors - like they were for most of their history
2) get a lot less involved with their contractors - like they are with SpaceX.
The problem here is Boeing doesn’t know what they are doing - and NASA doesn’t have the technical competence on staff to challenge Boeing.
It reminds me of Enron and Arthur Anderson, Enron was allowed by AA to do what they did because AA didn’t understand what Enron was doing… and didn’t want to appear dumb by asking too many questions. So they just assumed what AA was doing was fine.
NASA used to be the smartest guys in the room… that is no longer the case.

I think they are leaning towards
At least that's what I got from the 9m video.
I'm not familiar with the intricacies of this- but I certainly hope that's not the case. But it could be, I suppose, with NASA mission drift.
