Your reminder that a spotter can’t save you if you drop the bar

He's practicing for death. You saw his soul leave his body for about a half a second, right?

I always use the safety bars. I set them so that if I drop my arch the bar is barely touching my chest. From what I've seen on social that dude in the vid walked away from that with sprained wrists and some broken ribs. Looks like his whole damn chest was crushed.

That kid had 0% chance to lift that weight.

Any time I see a dude put clamps on a barbell for bench press which it looks like this kid did, I automatically assume he has no clue what the frick he is doing and is a l long shot to do the lift correctly or successfully.

I don’t understand these guys who go into a commercial gym like LA Fitness and try to bench 600 pounds. It’s stupid for several reasons.

I trained at a place that required the clamps on all barbells for any lift. I never put clamps on the bar for bench - or for any lift really. And every time I'd bench, one of the workers eventually would come by and remind me that clamps are required.
I'd just ignore them and keep lifting.

I'd be impressed if he could lift half that weight. I actually am impressed that he even managed to get it off the rack.
Don't care if you have 3 spotters, absolute insanity to even think about getting under that at his apparent level of strength.

It’s not that I am against using clamps on a barbell. Nobody wants to hear a bunch of 45’s rattling together on a squat or deadlift plus in those lifts it is kinda unsafe to have heavy weights unsecured even though those old school iron 45’s clanking together meant someone was about to lift some heavy shite, but I digress (I can literally smell the chalk as I type this). On bench though it is dangerous. You might need to seesaw plates off of you if you fail and that’s not happening if you have clamps on the bar. The only way it is acceptable is if you have a spotter that doesn’t mind deadlifting it off your chest if you can’t get it to the rack.
