I changed the battery and it still doesn't work.
What's my next move?

Did you make sure the contacts were clean and the igniter has a solid connection to the grill? Would also make sure the spark path is clean too.

I've been doing this for a few years now, finally got around to trying to troubleshoot it.

Please explain to me what this means.
Thanks!

It doesn't even try to make a click sound. Like the button itself does absolutely nothing.

Sounds like the metal the battery comes in contact with may be tarnished or corroded. Scratch them with a small screwdriver to remove corrosion. That may help for a while.
Or, just order a new igniter via the web.

I replaced my whole igniter system on a 4 burner Genesis. I hate working on stuff and am not good at it, but it was not difficult.
Don't just start taking stuff apart. The correct instructions will save time and trouble.
The replacements have been going great for several years.
