Find a new employer . My old company sent me to Melbourne for about 48 hours. It took 42 hours of flights to get there and back (coach.)

I haven't been to Sydney, but in Melbourne the building architecture of 20+ story buildings was pretty unique. In Melbourne (November/December) it would rain for 11 minutes then bake you with sunlight and heat, and then rain on you again four blocks away. Weirder weather than Louisiana.

Opera House
If you aren't scared of heights they have tours that allow you to climb Sydney Harbour Bridge

Take ferry over to manly. Take ferry to Watson bay. Famous restaurant there called doyles. From there you can walkout to the heads (entrance to Sydney harbor). Take city bus out to coogee beach. There is a very nice walk along the coast to bondi beach. Excellent trail.

Stay longer. Unless you're going to other parts of that little continent.

I'd see something at the opera house if you can. I stupidly bought tickets to some like 50 person audience show in a side room so it was kind of a lame experience.

Coogee to Bondi walk is nice and Bondi is iconic. I liked the iceberg pool

The ferry to Manly is great as well and nice area to walk around.

Loved a meal at Lord Nelsons Pub.
