I met Coach Jay Johnson Sunday after the Vandy game

He was perhaps one of the most down to Earth people I’ve ever met. Thanked me for being a fan, apologized for the two losses, and said we must dominate our home turf when I mentioned the Grambling and OU games. I didn’t want to be annoying so I kept it brief, but it’s no small wonder he can relate well to others. I was beyond impressed.

He’s the closest coach to Skip we’ll ever get

I met his brother and family and sat at their table in Rocco's in 23 in Omaha before game 1. It was crowded and everyone was sharing tables. Almost couldn't hear my brother when he told me who it was. Nice people.

I met him in Columbia last year after we played USC. He took a picture with our group.

Jay is a genuine dude that sincerely appreciates the fan base.

Ok. Actually doesn't matter if you believe me or not. It happened and you can either accept it or move on with your life. Your call, bub.

That's a nice story. Paul Mainieri told me to kill myself at LSU baseball camp.

He’s gonna pass Skip in both wins and administration.
Won’t skimp on the stadium expansion either.

I sat behind him at a FB game last season in the 104 section where a lot of recruits sit. I started to make a wisecrack about it but actually it fits with this thread.
He was sitting with a big recruit at the game in cargo shorts and an LSU polo like everyone else. This was late in the game and so about every min or so somebody would come up and ask for pic and he did every one. And BTW that dude committed by Sunday. I dont remember who it was but when I saw his picture I recognized him from the game. I think he was a pitcher.

Every Saturday and Sunday morning Jay and his staff were always at Lod Cook at breakfast with baseball recruits. Friend of mine wanted to go say hello, but I told him don't while he's sitting with recruits. Next morning, my friend said hello before the recruits came down and he was very nice to my friend.
Beth Torina and staff were there with recruits every weekend too and I would get to visit with the coaches before the recruits came down.

Why are you still here?

I hope that verge and the brass keep Coach Johnson in a good place emotionally and financially. We have a great man here coaching the baseball program . Not every season will end up the same but Jay seems like a nice gentleman who works hard for his players and the program.
