Has anyone watched "Aguirre, The Wrath Of God"?

Of course every Werner Herzog movie is great but I especially liked this one. This is the English version.

They made it for 370k, and it shows but great movie nonetheless. Werner Herzog is a genius. Really liked Stroszek too; according to AI:

Yeah. Herzog can make the most out of nowhere scenes that just punch you in the gut.
That scene where the spaniard is forced to abandon his horse in a jungle where it clearly had nowhere to go... man. Interesting movie, for sure.

Yes! It looks like someone took a video camera back to the 16th century & recorded them which I thought was great.
Some critics didnt like it & he was criticized for it, but I thought Thomas Mauch & the cinematography were outstanding.

It was one of the reasons I started watching non-English speaking movies. So many people liking it on this board spurred me to watch it. I then realized if the movie is good, it's worth reading subtitles. I'll give most movies a watch now.

Like Fitzcarraldo, Aguirre not only shows the struggles of the main characters against nature, it highlights the production crew's struggle against nature during filming. It is one of the reasons that both movies are great.

Attempted a watch after seeing the amazing Fitzcarraldo, but I wasn't feeling it and abandoned it at the time. I'm sure I'll return to it one of these days.
