As you know the Cuban govt has a program where they export doctors and are paid by the govts of other countries. Most of the Caribbean islands take advantage of the program.
The US govt has put pressure on countries to cancel the contracts and most, if not all, are. And its a win win for all involved......except the cuban govt.
Here in Trinidad we have used them for decades. The Trinidad govt pays half the salary to the Cuban govt in US dollars and half locally to the doctor in Trinidad dollars.
There was an interview with a Cuban doctor here locally. He said the Cuban govt gave him a permit to travel and Trinidad gave him a work permit. Since the contract has expired the Trinidad govt told him he could continue to work here, get a pay raise from part of the money we would have had to pay Cuba and the TT govt can pocket the rest.

Now what does the Cuban gov do to his family still in Cuba if he takes the offer?

Cuba’s medical school is huge. i think they graduate @1200+ doctors a year. They train lots of foreign MDs from all over the world.

Im sure most will mention Maracas Beach to him, its the most popular. Its Easter week and a tremendous amount of people will be heading there.
CAREFUL. Its a mountainous two lane road to get there and a lot, a lot of partiers coming back and forth on that road, a lot of them very drunk.
He could also catch a plane to Tobago, its 50 bucks round trip, there are about 10-12 flights a day 15 minute flight. He would have to call Caribbean Airlines to be certain he can get there and back given the holiday week.
Pigeon Point is a short cab ride from the airport, lots of maxis making the run back and forth. Its a pretty spectacular beach.
Ill be in Tobago this week. Doing my best to fulfill the lyrics of that famous song by a local chutney soca artist...
My wife said my drinking will be the death of me
She said if I dont stop drinkin she is leaving me
Soooooo......Its rum til I die, rum til I die, Ill miss her while I drink rum til I die

Good doctors too. Old school general practice not taking a look at you then sending your for a dozen tests and 8 specialists.
I had a friend tell me this Venezuelan woman was admitted to the hospital here and the young doctors could not figure out what was wrong with her, someone said "go get the Cuban doctor". She took about 30 seconds to look her over and said "she has malaria". Young doctors had never seen a case before.
