I've been seeing a lot of talk the past few days about moving the Grizz from Memphis to Nashville so we maybe we're not first on the chopping block

Mayor Freddie O'Connell got asked about it. He passed. "I love Memphis and the Grizzlies," O'Connell said. "They do training camps here, and we'd love to see them play a few games here, but our most recent bids have been for professional women's teams." The Titans, Predators, and Nashville SC already fight for dates and dollars in that market. Throw in Vanderbilt, Belmont, and Tennessee State and the sports calendar is full. Nashville has grown fast, no question, but O'Connell is not out here lobbying Adam Silver for a basketball team.

The Grizzlies and Memphis city officials have been at the table on a lease extension. About $550 million in FedExForum upgrades is part of the framework. Young has said he thinks a deal gets done.
End of story.

Grizzlies aren't going anywhere. It's literally just spoiled millionaires acting out because they're not in a 5 star hotel for the 20 hours they're in the city.

Strip clubs stink in Memphis.

I get what you are saying but the average person would be pissed with dirty sheets and the sprinklers going off and ruining all your stuff.

Modern NBA:
Seriously, any other sport where you have players advocating for a team to move because they don't like the hotels?

I just came back from 4 days in Memphis for a volleyball tournament, and it was one of the worst city experiences i've ever endured... by far...
broke down buildings/houses everywhere, nothing really to do, dirty arse streets, basically all they had BBQ joints to eat at, nothing really see...
Memphis is just a really shitty town... sorry

Just type in Memphis Tennessee on YouTube and you get a bunch of video tours. It is not pretty.

Why don’t the NBA teams stay at the Peabody?

ChatGPT has a ranking that NBA players have for travel cities and they have New Orleans in tier 2 which is the Very solid, no complaints tier. There are four tiers and it has Memphis and Detroit in the fourth tier, but it says Detroit is improving.

It’s not, but with Ford, Google, St Jude and FedEx making major investments in the region Memphis has a chance of turning things around and the region is growing.
The same cannot be said for NOLA with decaying streets and a disaster of storm sewer system. The city has declined in population 5 years straight and metro area under 1M now. Moreno and the state have to attract business to the region or it’s cooked and the Pels will have to go with it.

This was due to how metros are measured, specifically with the percentage of the population commuting. COVID and remote working changed NOLA metro numbers. It's not due to population loss.
If you measured NOLA’s area like you measured Houston or Dallas, you could include BR, Houma, and the MS Gulf Coast. Well over 2 million people.

The troll you're replying to is Rita Benson Leblanc, and she has a vested interest in trashing Gayle Benson at every turn.
