SIAP. I tried searching. It's a seven month old movie
If someone told you to watch a two hour documentary on bird watching, would you? Because that's what I'm telling you to do. It was such a nice surprise of a movie. The perfect mix of humor, absurdity, insight, Americana, and genuine love of nature.

Will watch. I worked with an avid birdwatcher and he talked about doing this. He’d go on cruises specifically for viewing rare ocean-going birds.

It’s pretty awesome. Surprisingly beautiful film of birds as well as a good story and exploration of subculture.

It was pretty amazing that those things worked at all.

One I'm deep into. Very well done movie. The Big Year is fun too but this captures the essence in more detail and more accurately. I enjoy birding for the same reasons that I loved fishing the coast of Louisiana; and in fact the one probably led to the other. Anything to get me into nature and away from the cities. I've met a couple of those people and have heard stories about others featured. The really serious birder community isn't all that large and are mostly checking out the same places so you get to know people.

Yeah about 3/4ths of the way through the movie, his brother with the mullet says something along the lines of "I really do enjoy birding now...I dont know that I like the competitive part of it though."
That would be me. I would love the whole being out in nature and seeing these creatures in their habitat and all that. But the people trying to see the most in a certain time period would piss me off bigly. Especially, like how the one guy was, if some unknown moderator told me it wasn't the bird I saw if my picture didnt capture it in all it's glory.
I can definitely see how that community can get toxic af. Great documentary BTW. I'd like tk smoke a bowl and go birding with those dudes.

That was one of the most educational & hilarious documentaries I've seen. Thanks for that - made my day!
