I have a couple cleared acres next to me and was thinking of making an owl box facing it at the edge of trees, it faces North. Anyone ever done something like this and any advice? Thought it would be fun

I have built several, over the years for screech owls. I have one in my yard now that woodpeckers seem to be more interested in.

Audubon - Instructions on how to build an owl box

This is what I used ti build my latest owl box. The only thing different I did was make it so I could access it from the side panel.

It was up for about 5 years before screech owl showed up. Found basic plan online using one 1x12 cedar plank.

Damn I was lucky,I had a screech owl in mine in less than a week.I used wood duck box plan. That was when I lived in Ellick.
Lived in Arkansas a couple years, put 2 up and flying squirrels took them over pretty quickly.
