Great infield with him, Ron Cey, Steve Garvey and Bill Russell.

I saw them play in person a couple times back in the 70s. That was when the Dodgers and the Reds pretty much dominated the old Western division most of the time.
RIP to Lopes, a really good player

Had Parkinson’s Disease according to latest reports … very good player overall who had seasons when he was an exceptional player, could steal bases, was good at getting on base and had some pop in his bat, was in double figures in home runs eight times in 16 years … had a career he could be proud of.

Damn, he was part of the first Dodgers team I started rooting for. And I played 2nd base in Little League and he was my favorite 2nd baseman.

Davey Lopes had a nice, long career. Noticed he didn't get to the bigs till he was 27. Then played till he was 42.
Definitely in the Baseball Hall of Great Mustaches.
RIP.

Can you imagine having the same starting infield for a decade. That could never happen now.
