I believe this is why he behaves the way he does.
ChatGPT - Trump is the first president in over a century not to have a dog while in office.

The Biden's dogs were a liability... maybe having a pooch for sake of tradition is a bad idea.
I say this as an obvious dog person.

Yeah but that was a German shepherd. Much more of a liability than, say, a schnauzer

It was so sad that Trump decided not to accept young Patton, a handsome Goldendoodle with noble ties, back in 2017.
quote:
The dog was offered by Lois Pope, a long-time friend of Trump and a prominent animal welfare philanthropist in Florida. She showed Trump a photo of the puppy at Mar-a-Lago during Thanksgiving in 2016. According to Pope, when Barron Trump saw the photo, his "eyes lit up," which was the main driver for the potential adoption.
The Lineage: He was chosen specifically because he was the offspring of military service dogs that had served in Iraq and Afghanistan. This was a key part of the "sales pitch" to Trump, who reportedly called him a "hero dog."
Why It Didn't Happen
Despite the "perfect" branding, the deal fell through for a few "clumsy" logistical and personal reasons:
The "Phony" Factor: Trump famously remarked during a rally that he didn't have a dog because it felt "phony" to him to get one just for political optics. He said, "How would I look walking a dog on the White House lawn?"
Time Constraints: Trump’s schedule was famously high-intensity, and he argued he simply didn't have the time to devote to a pet.
The Result: Lois Pope eventually decided to keep Patton herself.

If we want strong leaders, how does that reconcile with the need for emotional support animals?
Presidents having dogs might be more of a tradition than need.

So he has the emotions more of a spurned teenage girl than someone who is Commander in Chief? Is that what you're saying?
Look, I'm very thankful Donald Trump prevented both Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris from becoming President, but the dude is a shitbag of back and forth emotions. ALWAYS has been, prior to becoming a politician. Anyone surprised now, all of a sudden, wasn't paying attention in the 90s and early 2000s.

He works too much and travels too much for his work to care for a dog.
