Never been before but looking to go this year.
What're the differences in tickets? Why is a daily ticket so cheap compared to everything else?

Access to tents and free food/drinks. Daily tickets are just grounds access.

Daily tickets get you on the Grounds. If you buy one of the packages like the Best of the Zurich you have access to quite a bit of good food options and drinks as well as several grandstands for viewing. The Walk Ons deal to me is not so great because it only gets you in their Grandstand and you get 'bar food", its on 17 green.

The Best of Zurich ticket is by far the best one they offer. Open bars and a bunch of food

If all you want to do is watch golf, then get the regular ticket and eat the regular concessions. If you want the fancier food, got to get the fancier ticket.
Also, if you leave the event at the end of the day, be prepared to wait a while to get on the bus back to the Alario Center. A ticket that gets you a spot on the Lapalco Blvd neutral ground may be worth it if you leave at a peak time.
