Mitch Landrieu, the former mayor of New Orleans and a central figure in recent federal infrastructure efforts, has quietly begun exploring a potential run for the presidency in 2028. During a recent gathering of Democratic activists and the Young Democrats of America in his hometown, Landrieu delivered an unscripted and impassioned speech that many observers categorized as the opening notes of a future campaign.
Drawing on his extensive experience leading New Orleans through its recovery after Hurricane Katrina, Landrieu spoke to the crowd about the necessity of dreaming about what America "should be." He emphasized that the country cannot simply return to the status quo but must instead look forward to a new day. His message centered on the idea of constructing a future that corrects the mistakes of the past, a theme he applied to both his local governance and the national political landscape.

Nothing like running for President and you wouldn't even win your home state.

Never know. Things may change all depends on the Republican nominee and if the Republicans frick it up with some rubber stamp candidate that doesn’t have enough coat tails.

He can’t be worse than some of the other crazies he will be up against.

It's the same old tired democratic lines. Change, hope, forward blah blah

If we can get a Louisiana man in the office we should do it. He actually would be better then what else would be out there coming from that side of you look nationally. Mary was up in DC a long time don’t forget her connections. Donna Brazille was her chief of staff.

New Orleans recovered? News to me.

The irony here is that he’s saying the US can’t just return to the status quo, but when he was mayor, in charge of much of the Katrina rebuild, he rejected radical changes and went along with rebuilding the status quo ante.

I would t vote for him but he would be better than Kamala, what a joke or Gavin who believes in taxing the rich until they have all moved to Texas or Florida.

These are reasons to NEVER vote for him.

That’s when you know politicians are self absorbed as outside New Orleans area very few people are aware of this trash. DC may know him and Morial as the crooks to be careful of exposing your jewels too but that’s it

You have to admit that he would take the Primary unlike Bobby Jindal who dropped out before the votes were cast in Iowa.
Maybe Landrieu is looking at it as a litmus test for 2030 and the Senate race against Kennedy or he retires. Then you have age. He is not getting any younger. So it is probably now or never to run for president.

Would he take down the Statue of Liberty?
