At what point do we look at him for the batting woes this year.

He was here as a GA. I believe Godwin held the position Sanchez is in now. I think we need to go out and hire a proven hitting coach.

Yea but was only the volunteer asst coach. The batting coach went to ucf with Rooney, and javi got promoted.

I know, but I'm sure he was still there instructing just like he is now. What exactly would you blame on him? Everyone that showed they could hit last year has done the same this year during some stretches, there are just some bad streaks going on right now. And by the same token, a couple of unexpected new contributers hitting better.

His basecoaching is the problem. Seriously, he is to blame for many of the problems we have advancing runners this year. He seems clueless.

Oh BTW to add to his baserunning blunder tally I have started for him.. On Friday night he held Jared up at 3rd while the ball was hit into the outfield. He was at 2nd and didnt score on a basehit. Luckily the next batter hit him in but that is not always a luxury. Who in their right mind holds one of the fastest runners in the nation up when the ball hasnt even gotten to the outfielder yet? So much for your so called 'aggressive' philosophy ideals.

It's hard when the hitters need a translator to understand what he's saying.

Isnt Grewe's background in hitting? i know he is the pitching coach but if Javi's coaching was the problem dont you think Grewe would step in more and help him out?

All I know is that Jared could have ran home back to 3rd and back home in the time he had. Bases loaded and a hit into CF and you hold up the fastest runner on your team at 3rd?? Sure would have looked stupid had the next batter struck out..

FWIW we had runners on 2nd and 3rd at some point early in the game on saturday and there was a long fly ball hit to center and neither runner tagged up. It was a hit and run so they were both moving before the pitch but had plenty of time to get back and tag up. Same thing happened when Schimpf got doubled off yesterday

Pretty sure it was in the 3rd. Mitchell was the last score we had that inning.

Never mind he hit a triple that inning so wasnt the 3rd..

ETA found it. and it was a hit to RF not CF which is even worse. 6th inning

It's not the coaches fault when a player doesn't tag on a hit and run. A coach can only so so much.

not really a solid argument that you built here, I'm guess it was a liner right at an outfielder, and guessing there was at least a chance he would have been out at home. FWIW, we had these same problems last year, and people bitched about them, until we went on a 23 game win streak, then the bitching magically stopped.

Does any body even remember this? This is why we need him.

This might also be a reminder.

No it was a basehit that got over the 1st baseman's head would have probably been a double had the bases not been occupied. Seriosuly by the time the ball got into the infield Jared was sitting on third having afternoon tea with Javi.
