Think there is a chance we will ever get a team? Would be cool to have. Have we ever even tried?

Sweet some fresh topics.

I still think there is a chance it could work in the New Orleans area. There has always been a big following for the sport there. I've heard all the reasons why it would and why it wouldn't work but we'll never know for sure unless it is attempted.

The Saints have no problem averaging 68K over an 8- (or 7-) game season.
The Hornets have succeeded so far in averaging 17K over a 41-game season.
There's no way an MLB team could average 25K over an 81-game season in Louisiana.

no mlb team has even close to a full house for everygame, the day games have a ton of empty seats, hardly anyone there, just have to sell enough season tickets thats all

I always wished i was alive when the pelicans played, that would of been so freaking cool to see.The dome used to have so mlb games and it was pretty good attendence.I saw red soxs vs as,and cubs twins there.

I am not sure, I think there is a chance we could average over 25K. Location would be key. I think LA is a baseball state. The tigers and Zephyrs averages are at the top, not nearly the scale of an MLB team but you never know.

Unless a team moves to New Orleans, I just can't see expansion. They Yankees can't even sell out. Who in the hell would want to sit in that heat and humidity for three hours?

Case in point: the Florida Marlins

They'd have to build a retractable roof stadium to fight the humidity and make it like hurricane proof and shite.
I just can't see the attendance being up enough for the team to make money

There's actually some pretty cool stuff out there about how New Orleans was in the running for MLB teams in the 60's. Even as late as early Superdome years, it was widely believed that NOLA would be in line for an expansion team. Seedy politics and then the oil bust killed any remnants of that fading dream.
Would have been fun for sure but now it's only a pipe dream.

I haven't been to a Zepheyrs game in a while, but they were fun.

Absolutely not

Doubt it, maybe N.O. could pitch a bid for an All Star game to be played at the Superdome though. That'd be kinda cool.

We couldnt even keep the winn dixie showdown, and that was pure awesomeness

LO-fricking-L at all the people who keep trying to convince themselves that NOLA is a good enough city for a baseball team.
1. Nobody is going to fricking sit through a 3.5 hour game in 100% humidity.
2. Nobody is going to drive into New Orleans on a weeknight to watch the game. (think Northshore)
3. Building anything resembling a retractable roof stadium is fricking retarded because it would be ripped apart by a hurricane. The superdome is easier to repair than a retractable roof stadium.
4. If they do get a team, they'll end up playing in the superdome, which will mean attendance will be what it was in Montreal or Florida.
5. LSU baseball/football would fricking kill attendance in May, June, and then again in august-October (if they make the playoffs).

IMO,
San Antonio has a better chance of getting a team than anywhere else in the south.

I don't think the region could support an MLB team for a full season and have it be an economic success year in and year out. But at least two of the points above are fairly flawed.
2. Nobody is going to drive into New Orleans on a weeknight to watch the game. (think Northshore)
Some people do it for the Hornets, so there's no reason to say that others wouldn't do the same for baseball. People who live on the Northshore but work on the Southshore can stay in the city after work and catch a game. I don't think you'd see enough people just from that to make it work, though.
3. Building anything resembling a retractable roof stadium is fricking retarded because it would be ripped apart by a hurricane. The superdome is easier to repair than a retractable roof stadium.
Enron / Minute Maid Park is a retractable roof stadium in/near Houston. Houston just took a hurricane hit recently. That stadium managed to survive, somehow, so it follows that the engineering challenges could be overcome in New Orleans as well.
