I don't understand why this is such a big deal. Soccer clubs in every country have been doing this forever (exageration, I know) and it's the most watched sport in the world. I promise their not doint it to "stay afloat". It's a smart buisness move and I wouldn't be all that supprised to see other american sports follow suit.

Soccer is global and most American's don't give a shite...

Most watched in the world, sure. That would be thanks to Europe, Asia, and South America. Where we are, it's about baseball, basketball, football, and hockey up north. Leave the sponsorships out of America. Because the WNBA is doing this though, I don't really care.

Why would you advertise when no one is watching?

It's not "no one". It's not a big audience, but it's there. It's not expensive, and the target demographic is well-defined (10-14 year old girls).

What I don't get is why Tag sponsored the WBB tournament--18 to 35 year old males are not watching WBB in significant numbers.

True, but there are no commercial breaks during a soccer game. They have to make up revenue any way they can. Even the scrolling signs behind the game will only bring in so much
