An amazing surround sound and a shitty TV?
which is more important to a movie environment?

the quality of the video is more important. a nice tv would produce nice video and nice sound. not surround sound quality, but it wouldn't detract from the movie viewing environment.

hmm... i think yall would be surprised if you got a nice surround sound thumping in your movie room... now im not talking a five hundred thousand dollar hookup from best buy but real sweet stuff, i think yall be surprised how much better it makes a movie

amazing TV, no question.
Surround sound is nice, but half of the time I don't even notice it unless the movie track makes a point to make the rear speakers REALLY LOUD for an event.

Man i think yall are really underestimating really really nice speakers... im talking like 2-3 grand speakers, trust me they make a difference, and you hear and feel everything around you... like thunder on my surround sound feels like thunder outside, and when it rains you feel like you are in the middle of a rain storm and can hear the rain engulf you its quite impressive

That is all just a nice perk though.
Remember your base question: TV versus speakers.
People are going to spend 2-3 grand on a TV LONNNNNNNNG before they spend 2-3 grand on speakers.
Hell, I thought we were around the reasonable limit when we spend around a grand for our 7.1.
