I know there's been a good bit of frustration with Miles/Crowton and how some fans have perceived them as underutilizing some of their playmakers in the past (Holliday, Keiland, Perrilloux in '07).

I think Shep has the potential to be one of the best players in the HISTORY of LSU, but in order to do so, he'll have to be PROPERLY UTILIZED. What is your level of confidence that the staff does so?

I'm thinking maybe 40% IMO.

What say you?

(ETA: I am not anti-Miles, but one of my few frustrations is how he SEEMS to underutilize or misuse his talent at times. JMO...don't have a coronary over it)

Miles and Crowton are too dumb to use him correctly. Why do you ask.

Besides, isn't Trindon supposed to get all of Sheps snaps this year because he is so super fast.

How many offensive plays per game do we run? If you did the math, you'll figure out there aren't enough plays in a game to give all our "playmakers" enough touches to satisfy everyone.

Maybe we could squeeze in a few more by going into OT more often.

Yeah Miles ultilized them all without justification. Of course all the people that were yelling Perrilloux despite the obvious explosion he could be were proven wrong. I only we could have played Perriloux more he would have ended his destructive habits. DAMN Miles!!!!

I always loved Holliday but I do wonder if he is all that he is cracked up to be by his fans

And of course if only that silly Jacob Hester was not played as much we all know we would not only have one but at the very least two National Championsips

SIlly Miles and the COaching Staff

Ok. Why don't you tell us ahead of time what your definition of properly utilizing him is and give an example of a true freshman in a similar situation that was properly utilized. Otherwise your 40% doesn't mean anything.

If he touches the ball close to 10 times per game, then he will be properly utilized IMO. I think he will get those touches....but we will see..

10 touches, then look at his stats, look at where he was most effective, wildcat, get him in space, get him the ball, after a couple of games, we should have an idea where he fits best, i trust that miles wont sit him too long, put him back returning kicks & punts with Holiday, i believe you put him to work right away, but then, im just a fan

I tend to think that Shep overtakes Jefferson as the starter at some point, maybe year 2. Before that, there are some really creative ways to get him involved, and I'm confident that the staff will do that. However I know what you mean about underutilizing playmakers. Miles himself has said many times he wants to get the ball to Holliday more.

he's not even coming close to practicing at QB exclusively and he needs a ton of work in the passing game

so...i'll take that bet for $10,000.00

do you think Shepard ever becomes full-time starting qb? I can't see him being a backup until his senior year.

Agreed, but he will be a differnce maker in other aspects of the game. Too good and too explosive to not cahnge the outcome of many games during his career.
