Devery Henderson's contract

Not looking too great now that Meachum seems to be stepping his game up. I didnt like it in the off season. Just seems like 4 years for 12 M was a little much for our fourth (maybe third) wide receiver, who can only run fly patterns.

why is that? if the guy gives you 5-6 big plays every year and opens things up underneath for other players he is well worth that amount of money.

at least NFL contracts aren't guaranteed. If he doesn't earn it and reverts to his old dropsy ways then poof he's gone with no major cap hit.
Hoping for an embarrassment of riches with our receiving core though. Maybe one can garner a 1st or 2nd draft pick next winter with the group not missing a beat.

Devery's numbers have virtually been the same every season since he has come into the league. They knew what they were getting when they re-signed him. Besides, until Meachem proves he's a full time starter I don't think Devery has anything to worry about. Paytons offense is built on passing the ball....there is enough to around.

Devery is worth keeping until/if Meachem proves to be just as good. They both have similar speed but Meachem does have better hands. I really think the Saints need to trade a receiver a get something for them before its too late. The receivers are good but Brees makes them look even better. They need to get something for one of them before their stock goes down.

He had a good preseason last year. Henderson is a guy defenses always have to defend against bc of his ability to get deep even if he doesn't always catch it (bc he catches enough of them).

12 receptions, 289 yards and 3 TDs in two years and appearances in about 14 games in two years??? I mean hell, being on the active roster is stepping his game up.
