I'll be driving to Lafayette tonight for a first date with a little lady...need somewhere with good food, local, but not too high end or stuffy as to make her uncomfortable.

Any suggestions are appreciated, she says she's not really craving anything in particular.

TIA

Italian? A small place, rather quiet with great food (not overly pricy) on Johnston St called Imonelli's. I never think about this place but might be your ticket.

Sushi? Tsunami's downtown

Cajun? Prejeans on I49 N

Upscale Cajun? Cafe Vermilionville on Pinook

Cheap? Buffet at Popeye's (yea, I said Buffet) on South college and Pinhook

Thanks, the italian place sounds great. She likes music, do you know if prejean's usually has a cajun band playing or anything? Man, I love their gumbo and that could put me over the top.

Not sure? Wanna call them to find out? 337 896 3247.

No music at Imonelli's. Kinda dark and small - guess you could say it is a more "romatic" spot?
4107 Johnston St 337 989 9291

Then of course if you want hip, loud and drunk, there's always LaFonda's at 3809 Johnston St 337 984 5630.

Sounds great, thanks. May have to do the romantic thing a little later, just kind of want to relax tonight.

I see Bella Figura is not mentioned... Definitely worth a look, not terribly expensive, but definitely not cheap.. Zea's is always a good place...
don't go to any local cajun places, to noisy, not a good atmosphere. Try to be a little original if you can...
No coyote blues, blue dog etc...
Not sure how Catahoulas on pinhook is, but when they were in Grand Coteau it was good....
FWI Imonelli's is probably the best, but also the most expensive, Bella Figura is a close 2nd for Italian, but also a tad cheaper, its in River Ranch...
