If Miles is fried where do we get the money to pay off his contract (15 million owed approximtley) and where do we get the money to bring in a big name coach? Face it he is here unless he quits......Poor economy, poor state, poor coach.......it all goes together

If I were an up and coming successful coach I wouldn't ask for much money to take the reins of a program such as LSU.
As far as the buy out for Miles, if he continues with the trend Im sure the money will some how appear.

its not a lump sum due all at once. We can amortize it over several years.

I think that's why all the frustration. We're well aware that we're stuck with this clown.

I do believe if enough pressure is put on Miles by the fans and alumni that he would resign and agree a cheaper buyout of his contract.

you sure about that.......and how many years?
maybe 3 or 4....If we fire him he is not going to give us 10-15 years to pay it off...
you still have the other stadium and athletic projects to pay for and there is no T Boone Pickins at LSU........face it he is ours to keep unless he quits........FYI TAF is maxed out on funds..........

We wouldn't owe him the full $15 mil unless he stayed unemployed for the remaining term of his LSU contract.
If he got another job, we'd only have to pay the difference between his guaranteed salary at LSU and his current salary (assuming his LSU salary was higher, of course).

first off, the money paid would be spread out. Secondly, I believe if he gains employment, the cost of paying him would be offset by this somewhat

There are about 15 threads on this topic.
LSU could also negotiate a lower buyout. This happens quite often.

This, plus he would be forced to make a good faith effort to find new employment. Also, we probably wouldn't have to pay a new coach as much as Miles is making until he actually wins something here.

"Certainly there is a want to have more money to get coach with better time management of the clock...
...and certainly there is a want to have a good go...and finish first in games..."

I have to assume Miles could find a BCS job paying between $1 and $2 mil a year, so you can probably cut that$15mil owed to him in half, at the very least.
We'd probably end up paying $5 million and be done with it.

so if we fire him do you honestly think he would go to work as an assisatnt coach for peanuts when he has big guaranted money from LSU?
