This too, 3 private and a charter school.

speaking of that, are there no good private schools in 4A any more?

I'm very proud of Westgate... After STM blew them out, I honestly didn't think they would even make the playoffs. Congrats

holy shite...it's exciting to be in the loop of high school football at this time of year. I had forgotten how exciting and awesome all of it is. Gonna be a fun week for the Acadiana-area next week, with 3 area teams in action.

That'll be it. But for the 15th consecutive year, an Acadiana-area team will be playing for a state championship, as C-NI and ND play...

As a journalist, I shouldn't be pulling for any team. But with the grit that the New Iberia teams showed tonight...it's hard not to root for them.

Oak Grove @ South Plaquemines

I don't have any ties to, or much knowledge about, either; I just usually go to the dome at the end of the season to watch a bunch of quality teams play good football. It's one of the advantages to living in the NOLA area.

Since Katrina, South Plaquemines has been a powerhouse. But I also know I've seen Oak Grove in the Dome at least a couple times, if not more.

My understanding is Oak Grove is up near the Arkansas border, sorta on the northwest side of Louisiana. Is that correct? If so, it seems difficult to imagine a longer in-state trip for any team.

Tough task for Oak Grove. If they win though, at least next week the trip will be shorter.

Slightly.

That seems a lot to ask of a 1A school.
