miles apologist

i'm certain i would fit that category by many of the posters on here. even though i don't think that is true, i will explain my position..
in 5 years as HC
+miles has won 2 sec west titles
+won 1 sec title
+won 1 NC
+won 51 games
+won all 4 of his bowl games (by big margins)
+has defeated some damn good teams; miami, notre
dame, ga. tech, ohio state, florida, alabama
and others
+has recruited extremely well
+has challenged for the west title 4 out of 5 yrs
now, 2008 was a bad year; his worst result-was. he needs to turn the program back around and i think everyone, including him, realizes that. this year was an improvement, but not good enough. again, i think he realizes that.
now, a segment of the fan base wants him fired. never heard from that segment until lately, but they now claim they "knew he was lousy from year one". never mind it is not practical to fire him now as we would not have enough money to hire anyone else after the HUGE buyout.
my stance, AND I OFFER NO frickING APOLOGIES to anyone for this stance is that i think the man deserves time to turn it back around. that simple. he DESERVES it based on the above factors. i personally think he can do it; that we will be better next year and the year after that. if he does it, i will be happy even though i'm sure some of you want him to fail so bad you will be unhappy. i want him to succeed. if that makes me an apologist, well, so be it. if he doesn't turn it around, i'm sure LSU will know what to do. they won't be consulting this board, i can assure you that.

I agree. I really think Miles and Crowton should stay.

+1000 I want him to succeed, and if good offensive hires are made, he will.

yea and he is 8 and 8 in the last 2 years in the SEC since saban's players have left with only 1 win in november during that time. Since the players saban brought in have left, miles's sec record gone down hill.

FAIL
finishing 3 games behind the 1st place team in the west does not equal challenging for the title.

I was with you until the Ole Miss game. You can't be a HC for 9 years and be that clueless. Well, I don't see paying him $3.75 million per season to be that ill prepared.

Dude, most of us don't call for Miles to be fired. Keeping Crowton and Studwara would be the stupidest move he could make and it looks like that's his plan. Really sad that he cares more about his assistant coaches than his players and team.

Miles would have signed most of the players Saban signed, like Dorsey and Clayton.

i'll take performance based evaluation over results based evaluation anyday along with a trend of where my program is headed. lack of performnace has bitten us in the arse in wins and losses if you go back and rewatch every game since he has been here.
Has miles had good gameday management? Has miles had good player mangement? Has miles had good on the field discipline penalty wise? Has miles had good player development? Can Miles coach X's and O's? The answer to all of the above is the same. You know what it is even though you do not want to hear it and focus solely on the results for your defense. Lack of performance will bite you in the arse sooner or later and it has done it to us. Not paying attention to what i listed above for 5 years and it has not yet been fixed like a elite coach would do.
We do not need to spend 4 milion a year for a so-called CEO head coach or "face" of LSU who has not fixed any of what i listed above.

I may not like him but the man can recruit. I just wish he wouldn't make the little mistakes or just manage the game better. For the money he makes I believe he should. Is that unreasonable?

Miles has done alot here and I thank him for that. What I can't get past is how the QB's have not improved in 2 years. Now some of this can be attributed to poor O line play this year. Which was supposed to one of LSU's best lines ever. The line not only was bad but it didn't improve at all during the season. Now for the worst of all game management. This staff can barely even get the plays into the game in a timely manner. There was constant confusion between the offense and the bench. I accept this being a issue for a game or 2 but all season without being corrected?? I like Les Miles, but at this point I don't think he can recover from the damage with the fanbase.

I have never bought the "Saban's players" nonsense. In 2007 you are talking about guys that Saban recruited but were largely guys being red-shirted. They really played under Miles. Now maybe Saban left such a foundation with that one year of coaching that any ordinary coach could have won with them but I don't think that's the story. We had a bad 2008 b/c of RP and the dual DC fiasco. We had a better (but still not great) 2009 with capable QB play but average line play on both sides of the ball. Next year will be better.

thanks dude,
my feelings, exactly. (i think miles is a man of integrity and is a winner.) the idiot ranturds want to fire a man w/ this incredible resume.
but, still you gotta love the ranturds who live here. it's the same as watching jerry springer (i can't regularly.)
the ranturds are usually alcoholics on probation and there only life is to denigrate others (like college atheletes and college coaches.)
did anyone notice that al beat fl by a larger margin that either beat lsu?
