How good or bad should team be in the next 2 to 3 years?

We had an awesome class last year and a look to have a pretty good one this year. Next years class should be the best in a long time. With the players we are recruiting do we get back to being a dominant program again or do we continue to tank considering the talent we currently have and will be getting?

I've almost stopped caring about recruiting. Arguably the two most talented teams in LSU history were 2006 and 2007, and Les still managed to lose 2 games each year. Which tells me no matter what the talent, we'll always lose a couple games.

We are a 2-4 loss program as long as Miles is here. That's just reality. But things could be worse.

I think LSU is definitely on an up swing the next two years, if only for one simple reason-- our quarterback will be an upperclassmen. That has been our biggest weakness the last two seasons in my humble opinion.

The word domination is not part of a Les Miles program.

We will see tommorrow which direction the program will take over the next 1 to 3 years. If the team gets back on track, I can see us losing 1-2 games next season and winning the SEC west which would put us back in the hunt for a national championship. Les always seems to step up when the pressure is on, so we will see tommorrow.

And we thought the same thing last year about smashing GaTech.
Guess what - the O sucked and we could not even dominate the LaTechs of the world.

Has domination ever been part of LSU football?

sometimes you win some times you lose. We destroyed Notre Dame in a bowl game in 06 then came back the next year to win the west, then the SEC, and ultimately the NC.

yes , every bowl game since Miles has been here, it has. Hopefully it continues tommorrow, we shall see,.

I don't think tomorrow's game tells us anything about the next 2-3 years. It is only one game and the momentum of a win does not carry into next year as the last 2 bowl wins have shown us.

This has been addressed over and over again. This program was pretty consistent over the last few years. We have not come close to a West Title in 2 years going 8-8 in the SEC. In the meantime Saban has dominated going 17-1 and 16-0 in the regular season. I don't see how getting dominated every year in overall record for the West Title is acceptable? Is it OK as a fan to expect LSU to win a West Title every 3 years? The program was at a very high level and at least every other year we were close or winning a West Title. My feeling is what you have seen the last 2 years is an indication of how it is going to be in the immediate future (4-5 years). Miles is going to lose at least 2-4 games a year and Saban will lose half as many even if he loses to LSU. Miles won't be able to keep up with Saban IMO. The margin for error is too small for Les.

It never ceases to amaze how ranters continue to ignore logic in favor of impossible fantasy. i.e.
1) SABAN IS FOREVER GONE, HE WILL NEVER, EVER BE THE COACH AT L.S.U. EVER AGAIN. Please, get over it! Saban left L.S.U., we didn't fire him. Yet often he was heavily criticized after losses that these same ranters, at that time, swore could have been won by better coaches. He lost two bowl games, one due to poor QB play, the other due to poor coaching by his defensive backs coach. Who was that? Saban himself! But just as he did in the Sugar Bowl last year, he deflected any personal responsibility from himself, and threw his players under the bus.
2) So you can't have Saban, who do you suggest we hire? Since our crazy fan base would have been critical of Jesus for not serving a salad and gumbo at the Last Supper, please give us a name of an established coach who would want to endure such BS. We have had 3 National Championship Football coaches. Two had enough, and left. Please name another NC coach who WANTS to come to LSU. Good Luck!
3) We had a FIVE TIME NC baseball coach, who was criticized for being too old by ranters when he didn't win the CWS in 2001.
4) During Saban's tenure at LSU, there was constant bickering and turmoil within the coaching staff, just as there has been at Alabama since his arrival. Coaches are prone to leave when they are unhappy, and Saban's history of retaining coaches is not good.
5) Saban has well documented character flaws, not the least of which is an inability to tell the truth.
6) He's a great football coach.
7) Fact: At this moment in time LSU has a National Championship Coach, who has won a higher percentage of his games at LSU than any other Coach who preceeded him, including Saban. He is a family man who really attends and supports his family's events. He is honest and demands honesty from his players. Although he gives second chances to players who violate the rules, he expects players to fulfill their promises, and accept responsibility when they don't. I.E. RP. His demand for discipline, and constant vigilence over the integrity of the program certainly cost him some victories when he removed RP from the program. That action is the only thing that prevented the "victory competition" between him and Saban from being a slam dunk in favor of Miles. He supports his coaches, and despite the demands from media, will never make derogatory comments about them, even if absolutely true ( 2008 Co-def. coordinators). This inspires loyalty and a good working relationship with his coaches.
8) He gets nervous during highly competitive games, and becomes a terrible time manager.(Auburn 2007, Ole Miss 2009)
9) By all measurable standards, Les Miles is a great football coach as well, with great character assets, who we are very lucky to have.
10) The answer: Next year, the winner of the Alabama-LSU game will win the west. 2011, LSU will win the SEC, and have a shot at the NC. That would mean 2003, 2007, 2011 (Every 4 years) magical years.

and the winner of the west will be in the SEC championship game. The winner of that game wil be in the NC game. We are well poised to make another run at the NC this coming season.

Legal, nice post though I'm sure you're intelligent enough to realize that common sense, logic and mature perspective will roll off these Rantards' backs like water off a duck's.
But yeah again, just for amusement, you Rantards answer number two.
WHAT COACH do you want that you think would compete and consistently defeat the Mighty Saban and win the West EVERY year AND that LSU could get?
Be specific.

First off NO ONE is going to beat saban every year. I dont think that is what people are saying here. I will be the 1st to tell you that I cant name a coach because I dont know who will be interested and who wont. I do believe that LSU can pay the amount of money that will get a coach that will be able to compete aganst the best in this conference. I think when it comes down to the big games (saban, meyer, and so on) Les gets out coached 70% of the time. Based on the numbers this dosnt include bowl games.
