It's inevitable that the naming rights for the Dome will be sold

It's not going to be the Louisiana Superdome anymore. It's far too lucrative to let somebody pay to put their name on it. That said. Who would you want to get the rights? I'm certain that I'm going to loathe any name it gets.
I cringe every time I think about the possibility of the Verizon Wireless Superdome.

if it saves the state tens of millions of dollars, who cares.

nobody bought the Cowboys stadium yet and that gets tons of exposure.

everyone but tv guys will still call it the superdome.

Yeah it will just be different. I'm not fond of it, but it does make fiscal sense.

I dunno. Only half of the stadiums in the league are named. I think someone would buy the Dallas or New York stadiums before they bought us...

On the contrary, the Superdome has one of the lowest values for naming rights, because of the high-profile nature of its existing name. That's probably why the naming rights haven't been sold yet.
It's the same problem Mile High Stadium had. They had to compromise with Invesco Field at Mile High.
Selling naming rights to the Superdome is not the slam-dunk easy get that everyone thinks it is.

As much as I like Louisiana Superdome, selling naming rights would help out the state a bunch from my understanding. If they can sell the rights I say more power to them.
However in these tough economic times could be a tough sell. Look at the lack of exciting super bowl commercials to me that was the indicator of how tight a lot of companies' pockets have gotten.
