article on TigerBait this morning by David Folse...sounds like he is going to LSU unless he gets a great MLB ofer...
Read Article here
basically said he is coming to LSU unless a MLB team throws a "life changing" amount of money at him. He says that is where he always wanted to go, and where his heart is at.

also the Pirates took Von Rosenburg...they openly said they were throwing money at all their draft picks to lure them into their system.
that has been a huge problem in Pittsburgh in the past(not signing players/players going to college), and they are doing everything in their power to change that way of thinking.

Heck ZVR flat out said "Im coming to LSU"

ZVR was a 6th round pick that got paid first round money. Pretty rare.
the Pirates have spent more money on the draft that last 2 years than any other team.
Cecchini's situation is slightly different, especially with the injury and that fact that he was openly admitted he is coming to LSU

Hope this doesn't end up like ZVR or even the kid from Barbe that signed with Rice (name escapes) who the Yanks took in the 10th and offered 1 mil. Wonder if the thought of playing with his brother, eventually, at LSU will play in part in this?

kids say that to get that magic number higher

Its cheaper to build a team through the draft than free agency.
Cecchini was moving up to first round or the supplemental round before the injury. I suspect he will be drafted a round or two lower than he would have been,,but still get the money. MLB will first have to see if he bites on a lower amount,, then in typical fashion--about a week before school starts, come in with their real offer.
Bottom line, this guy can play.

Cecchini's draft stock went down Senior year.
VonRosenberg's draft stock went up Senior year.
...once again the ZVR situation was brought up

1 million- 1.5 million. Anything lower would be a slap in the face with his potential.

Sadly enough, but he will be brought up EVERY TIME a high profile kid is recruited by LSU and says they will not go to the MLB.

It's just like the guy who was stood up at prom and has trust issues for the rest of his life. It's a new year, new crop, new player. People should not get there hopes up, but respect each players words and take in what he has to say instead of disregarding it.

Anyone from LC/Barbe think the brother's commitment to LSU and the possibility of playing with him could impact this? Do Glen or Racia (sp?) care about this? Just curious.

Are you talking about Cecchini's brother?
Posted on 4/19/10 at 1:22 pm to TrapperJohn
So basically we have to hope he doesn't get picked by the yankees or pirates?
Posted on 4/19/10 at 1:30 pm to Suntiger
The Yankees are one of the teams that has been talking to him.

Hey Adam,
Which of these players, in order of most likely to least likely, do you see showing up on campus?
Cam Bedrosian, Garin Cecchini, Kevin Gausman, Lucas Leblanc, Kevin Koziol, and Delino Jr.
