Fantasia's "Summertime" has to be in the top five, if not best ever.

I know a lot of people like that performance, I just personally don't consider it in my top 5. Maybe it's bc I didn't like the song that much.

she was so overrated. she sounded like she sucked on a helium tank before performing. i didn't get the judges love fest over her

This because after that performance people reported he was to be the next lead singer of Fuel, he was that good with that song.

Now, let me go scrub the gay off of me for posting this.

Kelly Clarkson is the Babe Ruth of American Idol. She set the standard and remains heads and shoulders above all the contestants that's ever competed on the show. She's truly an incredible talent.

All time (I won't include any this season yet):

1. Adam Lambert - Ring of Fire (Thought it was beyond amazing. I know a lot of so-called "faithful" were in uproar that he changed up the song. But other contestants have done far more rearranging and got far less attention, so I just consider it personal beef.)

2. David Cook - First Time Ever I Saw Your Face (Great version of one of the greatest songs ever.)

3. Kimberley Locke - Somewhere Over The Rainbow (Extremely memorable performance. Noted for her fight with Simon.)

4. Jennifer Hudson - Circle of Life (Breakout performance for her.)

5. Kelly Clarkson - Natural Woman (Self-Explanatory)

Top 5 this season so far:

1. Crystal Bowersox - Me and Bobby McGee
2. Crystal Bowersox - People Get Ready
3. Katelyn Epperly - The Scientist (It's a shame she didn't make it to top 12. I thought this version was as raw and pure a performance as I've seen in awhile.
4. Crystal Bowersox - Gimme one reason
5. Lee Dewyze - Hey Jude

This.

He was probably the most musically gifted contestant ever on idol even though he wasn't vocally great.

I like David Cook and all, but he completely lifted that performance from Chris Cornell.
