I would like to compile a comprehensive list of good movies/documentaries to watch on this since so many threads are started about the feature. I will update below with suggestions...unless they suck. I want to leave TV shows out of this because there are so many and to each his own.

Feel free to ask about/discuss any of the following.

Miller's Crossing
The Fisher King
Kicking and Screaming (1995)
Gonzo
Super Size Me
The Motorcycle Diaries
Let the Right One In
Cashback
The Ghost and the Darkness
Dirty Work
Serenity
Moon
Donnie Darko
Caddyshack
Beavis and Butthead Do America
Raising Arizona
The Big Lebowski
Barry Lyndon
Fanny and Alexander (IMO Bergman's best and Instant Watch's best; watch in chunks if you don't have over 3 spare hours)
The 400 Blows
Pan's Labyrinth
Amarcord
Cool Hand Luke
Vertigo
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
M
The Twilight Samurai
Glory
Rob Roy
Paris, Texas
Bronson
Wild Strawberries
The King of Kong (documentary)
Memento
Man Bites Dog
8 1/2
The Third Man
Paths of Glory
Full Metal Jacket
A Clockwork Orange
Blade Runner
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Amadeus
On the Waterfront
Patton
The Shawshank Redemption
Taxi Driver
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Primer
Shoot the Piano Player
Following
Rashomon
American Movie
Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense

If I get enough responses, I will break them down into categories.

This list will be enourmous. Your best bet is to rate as many movies as you can on their site, and let them add them to the Movies You'll Heart section. They haven't let me down yet.

I can't get anyone to watch this with me. My roommates think it looks like a ghey sci-fi movie, but every time I google "good watch instantly movies" it's at the top of everyone's list.

some more:

Harold & Maude
Being There
The Diving Bell And The Butterfly
Mulholland Drive
Un Chien Andalou (avant garde collab b/t Dali and Buñuel)
Amadeus
Shawshank Redemption
Brokeback Mountain
Oldboy
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Being John Malkovich
Synecdoche, New York
4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (Post-traumatic stress disorder warning)
Eternity and a Day
Return of the Secaucus 7
Awakenings
Humpday
The Seventh Seal
Memento
The Royal Tenenbaums
Rachel Getting Married (not a ghey romantic comedy)
Best In Show
Endless Summer
Everything Is Illuminated
American Movie (everyone must see this if you haven't already)
This Is England
My Kid Could Paint That
The Big Chill
Primer
Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense
No Country for Old Men
Cannibal! The Musical
A Clockwork Orange
Crimes and Misdemeanors
Mail Order Wife (highly recommend you watch this without reading its synopsis)

note: some of these may not be available instantly anymore. I noticed netflix sometimes removes that feature over time. I just listed a bunch of my stuff that in my "Watch Instantly History" folder.

I just watched a movie called The Dish this weekend that I found on Netflix Streaming....never heard of it before and thought it was good. Has Sam Neill and Patrick Warburton. Anyone else see this one?

ETA: Sorry, didn't see this. I'll leave them up anyway in case anyone's interested.

Here are some TV shows:

The A Team
Arrested Development
The Office
30 Rock
24
Torchwood
Tudors
Dexter
Californication
Party Down
Dead Like Me
Friday Night Lights
Weeds
Lost
Columbo

They have so many and it's great because you don't have to wait for 4 or 5 different discs in the mail.

I know you don't want to include tv shows, but suggesting Serenity without a parenthetical to suggest watching the "Firefly" series first is a major fail.

I tend to only use instant when it's something they don't have on disc. Last week it was Looking for Mr. Goodbar this week it's gonna be Walkabout.

I think we can nail down the better movies to watch on there. Please don't put anything that YOU would not rate FOUR stars or higher.

The list will be ever changing due to additions and subtractions, but this should be a good guide for anyone who does not want to sift through the 10,000 movies or rate over 200 to whittle your heart list down.

for someone who does not want to get into the series...I thought the movie was excellent...quite a surprise.

But you are right, the Firefly series is great.

DO NOT wait on your friends to watch this movie with you...you will thoroughly enjoy it alone.

I vote for this to be stickied. Maybe we can get some resident M/TVB critics to review some movies and just get a huge netflix instant viewing review thread.

I wholeheartedly endorse this idea (the sticky). I almost started this thread the other night but crawfished at the last minute.
