People blocking Port Fourchon and Southwest Pass?

I heard mention of this on the radio this morning but have not seen it mentioned anywhere else.
Supposedly some people are talking about blocking hwy 1 to prevent supplies/material from getting to Fourchon and blokcing the mouth of the river to prevent tankers from making it up river.
Anyone else hear anything about this or were they just blowing smoke this morning?

What kind of point would these people be making?
It would only make matters worse. BP would say that they are trying to get things done and these people are holding up efforts.

I'm not playing chicken with a tanker barge or Chouest offshore supply vessel. Hell, I wouldn't even play chicken with a pilot boat...

Don't think the 800ft'ers will have a problem. They will come in the SW Pass like always.....
Trivia: Aprox. how many miles is it from the mouth of the SW Pass to the I-10 bridge in BTR?

Because at that point maybe they will let us dredge OUR sand, to build protection for OUR beaches......or so we can start getting royalties for OUR oil that we put our coast at risk for.

It is 230 by river to the GOM from B.R. and 95 from NOLA.

no, been involved with the river and barges for a long time. FYI, the river is high but is started to drop. I need 25 at B.R. by June 5th.

216 nm. Made the run once on a bet. Took all day and burned almost 260 gals of fuel. The longest part was waiting turn at the locks @ Port Allen to get thru to pull boat out of water. Wasn't making the return trip.
ETA: There was a power line pole on the east side of levee just south of WIlkinson (New I-10) bridge with mile marker 212.9. Haven't been on River Road there in years so not sure if still there.
By the Way, almost the same distance (239 nm.) from South Pass to Crab Island in Destin Sound.
