wtf, a snag?? too much mud escaping????? That means to me that it isnt working.
Posted on 5/27/10 at 4:37 pm to Ziggy
Dunno, heard they are picking it back up at midnight. They must have found oil in the mud.
Posted on 5/27/10 at 4:37 pm to back9Tiger
I think the problem is that the pressure of the oil is greater than the mud and they cant overcome it

so does whatever they pumped down there earlier just run out??
Posted on 5/27/10 at 4:40 pm to LEASTBAY
no, they have enough. It's pumping 2200 gallons a minute

This is essentially like pumping into the top of a T. One end of the T is open (Broken riser/BOP") and they are trying to get the mud to flow through the path of MOST resistance.
JMO Cause I dont know shite about how they expected it to work without plugging the open end of the riser at least a little.

Keep in mind what you are reading on line from news sources is "old" news.

per BP on CNN TV
they werent pumping since last night, they stopped and just watched it overnight and refilled the mud. They might start pumping again tonight.
what we have been watching is the mud escaping from what they pumped yesterday

i posted this in the sticky thread, they havent been pumping mud for 16 hours now, they may add bridging material to mud when they start again to try to clog it
