She does not put more than 10k miles a year on a car. Anyone who had leased a car before can you give me your pros and cons of leasing a car.
Thanks
Thanks

I have yet to see a good reason for an individual to lease a car- just buy one

Leased once, never again. Best cost benefit, buy a 2 yer old car.

You can find great cars for about that old with hardly any miles and much cheaper than a new one. If the wife only drives 10k miles a year, the car should last you a long time. Don't lease it.

Rarely a good financial move, but if someone does not mind losing a little bit of money and the enjoyment they get from being in a brand new car every few years is worth it to them, then leasing can be a decent option.
Also lets you drive a car that you couldn't otherwise afford.

Leases are good if the company is subsidizing it. What will get you is the $2k they will want the next time to get a good payment, which will have to come out of your pocket.
It's not hard to figure out what payments would be over the life of a car vs lease payments.

This is the bottom line, with few exceptions

There are some cases where its good to buy a new car and there are come cases where its bad.. But its never a good idea to lease a car. Unless you have to have constant warranty and a new car every few years. It may work better for a company to do than an individual.
BTW cases where its a good idea to buy new:
Trucks - due to high resale values they do not depreciate as fast plus trucks can be run pretty hard. So knowing the maintenance of buying a used one can be pretty hard.
Cars that can be bought new with rebates.
I just bought my wife a new Camry because it had a 2k rebate and free maintenance for 3 years. (2 is standard and they added another year for going through toyota financial). The sale price of the car ended up being the current value now as used so basically she made up for the loss in the rebate.

I'm not getting into another debate about this.

How about Leasing a wife? Would this make sound financial sense?

About leasing or buying new?
I know that I went and negotiated a new camry and a used camry with two different dealers this weekend. I was able to get a new camry with rebates and that 3 years of maintenance at about the same price as what I was able to negotiate a used camry with 25k miles on it. Getting her into a brand new car with a longer warranty included and free maintenance was more worthwhile than saving the 500 dollar or so on getting the used car.
Sometimes you have to look at new cars as well as used just to see if its worth buying used or not. As for as a lease.. Unless your company gives you X amount of dollars for a car it makes no sense to me unless you are trying to keep up with the neighbors.
