Good Head Coach- whoever was the last guy to get fired. Can also be any young successful coach on the market not at LSU.
Offensive CoOrdinator- One who is the next to be fired.
Defensive CoOrdinator- Person with headset on the sideline who should've know a screen was coming on that play. Syn. He who never blitzes enough.
Successful Season- A 9-10 win season in which every win comes through the exact style of play which the observing LSU fan believes is the best way to win games.
Disappointing season- 8-10 win season in which some or all of the wins came through a style of play opposed to the optimal style of the observing LSU fan.
Upperclassmen- A washed up has been who has no business being on the field over the NEW blue chip prospect coming in.
Blue Chipper- Future upperclassman.
Good Recruiting Class- Most often used as a term to describe a group of young saviors coming into the football program, but in reality, a group of future upperclassmen. (see definition above for clarification).
Clock Management-The art of paying very close attention to the time remaining in a football game, often, so much attention that one forgets to do anything other than watch the time tick away.... aimlessly.
WANT We'll get em next time.
The Hat- the cap awkwardly situated attop one's head. Its main goal is to protect the crainial matter below, but in this application, it is used solely to identify the one who's not going to be making any decisions around here.
That's all I got for now. See what you can add.

I remember when LSU won 2 games in a season, which would you prefer?

Maybe you didn't get the memo, 8 - 4 is the new 10 - 2.

right, so lets use the 1992 standard as our standard in 2010
"hey, ill settle for mediocre play, cause we won 2-3 games a year 18 years ago"
gotcha

whats unrealistic about wanting the team to play to the best of its ability? thats all i ever want and we havent seen that recently

by those requirements there should never be any expectations, because each year should never be used as a barometer for the following year...
i'll take what comes, personally. i want LSU to do well. i want them to be competitive for SEC West, SEC and national titles in every year possible. however, i also recognize that each school hits a rough patch and its now the response time, which we are officially in now by my measure, that truly shows what type of coaching and players we have.

so you know for a FACT that they have more ability than shown on the field? you should get a job doing something with that then, just MO

i tell you what then, if thats the best we got, then les and co. should be fired for terrible recruiting
but i find that hard to imagine considering how highly rated our recruiting classes always are and how many players we put in the pros

No one is denying that teams have ups and downs. The problem is when programs and fanbases become content with the down periods.
For a good reference, see the StayPuft guy on this thread.

see dude this is where you lose your argument and people then think your a nut when you state that a down 8-5 and 9-4 season is terrible. That's a fail. 90% of the schools in america would beg for those records. While I agree we ALL want to be in the top 99%, bitching like a little girl that they didn't win one or two more of those games makes you, and yes I mean you specifically, a complete and utter moron. Have a great day

let's just all agree on one thing, a fan (which is short for fanatic) can very rarely, if ever, be realistic in expectations. even the most sane of the group will likely get either pumped up early or down early.
i'm extremely guilty of this, start the season sounding realistic by game 3 or 4 i'm thinking we're doomed or going to the 'ship
eta: i do however recognize that the SEC demands better records, especially these days
you can't afford to drop off the pack now, things are moving too fast in this conference for that

if all we were capable of with our talent, facilities, talent base in the state, fan support, ect. was 4-5 loss seasons, then fine, id be ok with that.
but 90% of the schools in america who would be satisfied with 4-5 loss seasons dont have the resources lsu does, therefore 4-5 loss seasons at lsu in 2010 is not acceptable, period.
and dont even get me started on the style of of our onfield play that gave us 4-5 loss seasons
