LSU coastal scientist Eugene Turner has dedicated much of his career to documenting how the oil industry has ravaged Louisiana's coast with canals and pipelines, but he says the BP spill will be a comparative blip; he predicts that the oil will destroy fewer marshes than the airboats deployed to clean up the oil.

Airboats are actually very bad for marsh grass.. that part is true. I dont know about the oil/airboat comparison though, time will tell.

As of yesterday the regular clean-up boats are no longer allowed to enter the marsh in Jefferson Parish. Specially trained people are going to do it.

It was my understanding that they weren't allowed in the marsh period. And this was from at least before June!
