with unknown circumstances(may have to kill small game for food, perhaps fight off predators humans included, etc.) , what would be your weapon of choice? Preferably explain your thought process.

Shotguns, rifles, and handguns are all options.

My choice would by the SU-16C from Kel-Tec.

4.7 pounds(unloaded, but wow), shoots .223/.556, only 25 inches long when folded.

I want one of those, too.

It takes AR mags, so that's a big bonus.

AA-12

It's a fully automatic Ausault Shotgun with a 300 round/ minute rate of fire.

"It uses 8-round box, 20-round drum, or 32-round drum magazine. It is designed to fire three different types of 3" 12 gauge shells: Buckshot, slug, or Frag-12 rounds. Due to the abundant use of stainless steel and the designed clearance for fouling, MPS has claimed that the weapon requires zero cleaning or lubrication. The designer states that cleaning is required after 10,000 rounds."

the shotgun is fine - if the bad guys have to be close to you..... bad idea to want them close to you....

Ruger 10-22. Kills just about anything you need in the woods to survive. brick of ammo can pack away in just about anything very well.

If I'm having to survive in the wild, I'm not grabbing for a gun.

frick having to carry those big arse things around (and all of it's ammunition). I'm going light and versatile.

Think people.

I figured a knife would be a given. Kind of like the shirt on your back.

If it is surviving in the wild in normal circumstances I'd stay with the bowie knife and 10/22.

If some shite goes down and I'll be fending off humans too, I'd move up to the AR.

Negative to all of you. A good pump shotgun with shot and slug ammo. you may run into rabbits or other small game and the scatter shot is what you want and for much larger game and or bear defense slugs or good buck shot. its just more versitile and useful all around. plus you can cut oppen shells for gun powder to start fires easily. That with a good knife and you could survive for a while.

Thing will always go bang under just about any condition with very little maintenance. Would do a good job on most North American big game and also very effective against human targets.

This video appears to make the 10/22 the winner.

Single shot for small game.

Auto for larger game.

Auto for humans.

Auto for zombies (OT slip there).

Easy carry, light ammo for lots of it. Small clips.
