LSU has managed to start its season 5-0, but it's hard to blame Tigers fans for thinking this year is heading into the toilet. Just ask Rusty Welch, LSU tailgating czar and loyal Mailbag reader, who e-mailed me this account from Saturday's mystifying 16-14 win over Tennessee.

"My friend and I sit in the game until the third quarter ended. Go back to the tailgate. Game ends, I go to the Port-a-Potty knowing we had lost. I step out of the Port-a-Potty and we had won. Must have been some kind of magical time-warp Port-a-Potty."

I view it as a positive. For one thing, when Miles is canned after another winning season, the media will not jump all over LSU. Two, any would be coaches will see that if Miles can win 8 or 9 at LSU, what could I do with that talent? (Cue a picture of Gary Patterson)

You can feel the ground swell for the first time...I think Miles is gone at season's end. I didn't think that even as recently as yesterday but as the fog clears from the weekend and as the national pundits weigh in, I think this is it for Les Miles as a major college football coach.

SU's offensively putrid games are borderline-unwatchable

Sounds like negatigers who for some reason don't enjoy watching LSU stumble and bumble its way through every game.

Soon enough, the whole country got to watch Miles simultaneously blow the game AND pull it out.

That picture sums up Les Miles on game management. Throws up his arms and says "what do I do" hoping the football fairy will whisper a play to JJ.

He's eccentric. He's maddening. He's widely mocked. Some would say his most appropriate label is "lucky." He owns a BCS championship ring, a .789 winning percentage at LSU and a 5-0 record this season, yet most of the 93,000 celebrants at Tiger Stadium on Saturday still want his head on a platter.

That sums it all up right there.

WTF you gonna do?

WOW! Football knowledge is directly attributable to your given name. I had no idea.

I think I will listen to him. Him and every other sports writer, talk show host, respected analyst, college football fan nation as a whole, and 92,250 of the 92,500 sitting in the staduim.

While you continue to "be told what to think" by Les and the 10 other sunshine pumping positards who make their feeeling known every thread. At least your committed.

If he starts Jefferson at Florida I think he seals his fate.
