I heard that rumor on the recruiting board a couple of months ago. Not saying it's true, but some guy on the recruiting board apparently knew a trainer at Mett's C.C. The trainer said that Mett told him Crowton was resigning at the end of the year for family reasons. I don't know if it's true, but it does add credance to your rumor.

well he has no contract next year... and this would be the time of year when the AD would be trying to hammer that stuff out, wouldn't it?

I believe he has one more year left, After that it's in the air. I'm afraid this might turn into a "one more year" type thing and Crowton stick around through his contract.

The guy who told me this rumor is a former NFL player who usually knows what is going on.

Hopefully, even GC realizes he has more than worn out his welcome here & he'll realize the Cotton Bowl should be his final game, whatever the reason is. He would be doing the players, Coach Miles & the fanbase a huge favor & save a lot of trouble by doing so. But just in the last few weeks, on these boards there have been so many different theories & rumors tossed around about his future who knows what to believe.

I hope he stays. I would love to see his offense with a QB that could read defenses, check into the proper play and find his secondary receivers

Nooooooo!
Crowton must go

that would only fix half the problem since Crowton's play calling is turrible.

Heres what I don't get. It seems that in almost every game, when LSU absolutely "needs" to score, we are able to produce a semi-competent drive down the field. The offense can be a OMGWTFFAIL for 80% of the game but magically an offense happens. (IE, Alabama, Florida, West Virginia, Tennessee).
Who is responsible for those sudden offensive explosions? Is it Les letting Crowton run wild, or is it all Les calling the plays?

crowton needs to be let go. the offense has been total crap for a long time. it's amazing that he kept his job after last season, let alone possibly keeping it after this season.

While I too would like Crowton gone, I have to disagree based on the '07 season alone.
He is turrible at developing quarterbacks and calling plays to said quarterbacks' strengths.

It would be a Christmas Miracle.
