I'm surprised some fat coach hasn't passed out or had a heart attack from it yet.

It should only be done when you win the nc and superbowl.

I don't think so. It's a cool tradition. I'd love to be a coach winning a big game and have that done for me. I'd be smarter than Saban, though, and not wear a shirt that can turn pink.

Football coach George Allen's death may have been indirectly caused by an incident similar to a Gatorade shower. Allen died on December 31, 1990 from ventricular fibrillation in his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California at the age of 72. Shortly before his death, Allen noted that he had not been completely healthy since some of his Long Beach State players dumped a bucket of ice-water on him following a season-ending victory over the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on November 17, 1990.[2][3]

What could ice water have possibly had to do with that?

I'm no M.D., but I think [medical techno-babble].

I can tell you from personal experience...cold shock can trigger heart rate and breathing issues.
