it'd help him waste time and relieve stress.

I wonder if he actually did. I feel like that would have had its pros and cons.

I guess that was the only part of the movie that wasn't true because I watched the Dateline NBC special and they never mentioned him meeting those girls or whatever. Do yall know if that actually happened?

I think I read somewhere that he did meet them, but he didn't show them a secret pool like in the movie. He just showed them an alternate path or something. I just watched this movie this past weekend and enjoyed it very much, but the arm cutting scene was tough to stomach.

He did meet the girls.

He did not take them swimming.

He did not masturbate.

I saw it last week...

I thought it was ok.. could never, ever sit thru it again. I know I would have missed out on a lot of the running themes of the movie, but I could have easily watched this movie at x1.5 speed with subtitles.
It's def. a amazing story, but not that great of a movie.

I bet you didn't like Castaway either.

I just watched it and loved it. I wasn't bored for a second. Franco was awesome.

I liked Castaway...just didn't really care that much for 127 hours.

Waiting 2 hours for someone to cut their arm off isn't exactly riveting.

In Castaway, Hanks' character was thrown in a situation he had no control over and we watch him progress over unbelievable odds...

Franco's character is thrown to tragedy because he is an independent, idiot, with no forethought.

Castaway carries more of an "everyman" role for the protagonist, while 127 hours focuses on a thrill seeker that isn't a role most people put themselves in.

this. it was good, and some of the visuals were good at making me feel claustrophobic. the arm scene was way too much and nauseating.

I liked the arm scene. It was better than I thought it would be. It was the fact that it was so stylized I think. It was kind of neat too that I figured out the steps he had to break his arm to get out of there as he figured them out in the movie.

I read the book.
He did meet the girls but they didnt go swimming. He just showed them around.

He didnt wack. I wondered why they added that.

And the book added the details of the arm removal. It was insane what he went through. And if you didnt catch that......he had to break his arm to cut if off.

Nasty stuff. The book had great pics too.

I'm proud of myself, I watched without turning away at all during the arm scene.

In fact, I was more grossed out he was drinking his own piss.
